Learn watercolor techniques on a one-to-one basis with P. Anthony Visco. These classes are for intermediate (and above) watercolor painting. Follow along as we spend our time together using a step-by-step approach. We will primarily use the wet-on-wet, followed by the dry-on-wet technique. You will learn how to use characteristic shapes, good design elements, movement in color and tonal value, as well as using complementary colors to create and hold interest.

This week will be full of fun activities and awesome art projects. Painting, drawing, 3D and more! Flexible sign up - spend a day or two with us, or join us for the entire week! Bring a snack. For ages 6-9 with Marion Carlson. 9:30am-12:30pm each day. Flexible sign-up - spend a day or 2 with us or an entire week. Fee: $35 per day or $150 for the 5 day week.

During this session, we will engage in daily STEM exploration adventures throughout Heritage Museums & Gardens. A variety of locations and hands-on materials will be used for exploration, discovery and play. We will conduct experiments and collect and share data about our predictions and what we discover.
Full or half-day programs are available. For children ages 4 to 8.

Explore some of the South Shore’s hidden pockets of striking beauty with us. We will head out in vans together, guided by a spirit of curiosity and adventure, to visit some of the vital conservation properties in Duxbury. We will visit a number of both new and old acquisitions that highlight diverse ecosystems – celebrating winter’s offerings from forest, field, marsh, bay, and thicket. Sessions are appropriate for all ages. Plan on some short walks and bring a picnic.

J Michael Sullivan has over thirty-eight years experience as a professional photographer. He has been a Contributing Editor to HOW Magazine, lectured numerous times at Macworld and The Seybold Seminars, written the first layman’s book on flatbed scanners in 1994. In 2001, Sullivan offered an exclusive art reproduction service for artists of all media known locally as The Printwright Studio. He lives in Marshfield Hills, Massachusetts with his artist/wife Liz Haywood-Sullivan and their two poodles.Read more

In January of 1943, Peggy Guggenheim shocked the art world by devoting an entire exhibition at her Art of This Century Gallery to women artists only. 31 Women was the first of its kind, devoting the gallery space exclusively to modern women artists, most of whom were operating in New York.
The James Library & Center for the Arts is reinterpreting this revolutionary exhibition as a fundraiser for 2017.
