Jewelry Design with Found Objects

Saturday, June 3, 2017 - 10:00am to Sunday, June 4, 2017 - 4:00pm

Do you long to make jewelry with the items you love to collect, but struggle with how to do so? Many striking works of art jewelry incorporate found objects into the design. This weekend-long workshop will cover two different approaches to cold-connecting found objects for creating jewelry or small sculptural works: rivets and tabs. Day one will focus on a review of basic metalsmithing skills including sawing, piercing, filing, sanding, finishing, and patinas in addition to introducing students to several variations of rivets (raised, flush, tube, and standing). Day two will address texturing metal using the rolling mill, creating a frame with tabs for a found object and ‘setting’ the found object using tabs.

Roomful of Blues

Saturday, June 24, 2017 - 8:00pm

In 2010, singer Phil Pemberton took over the vocal duties, bringing his sweet and soulful vocals and adding another bright new dimension to the jazzy, jump-blues musical roots. Their winning combination of jump, swing, blues, R&B and soul remains their calling card, as does their ability to fill the dance floor.
