Day Out with Thomas the Tank Engine
Thomas the Tank Engine heads the train on a 2-mile train ride through the 1300 acre cranberry plantation. Get your photo taken with Thomas; enjoy live entertainment, storytelling, amusement rides and more. Handicap Accessible. $16.00 for anyone ages 2 and over. Tihonet Pond Fishing Derby

Show off your fishing skills at the annual Tihonet Pond Fishing Derby, sponsored by the A.D. Makepeace Company and Wankinquoah Rod & Gun Club Youth Group. Last year more than 350 anglers participated in the derby. The kids had a great time fishing from shore in the children’s area. Adults fished Tihonet Pond from canoe, land, kayak and troll-motored bass boats. All proceeds benefit the Wankinquoah Rod & Gun Club Youth Group. Prizes are awarded in youth and adult categories, food is available and terrific prizes are up for grabs in the club's raffle. A valid fishing license from participants is required. Native Plants/Natural Landscaping Workshop

Meet in the Horticulture Center Classroom. Plimoth Plantation’s Associate Director of Historic landscapes and Massachusetts Certified Horticulturalist, Bob Hoxie leads a 2-hour workshop on Native plants and a nature walk to introduce Native trees, shrubs and perennials planted along the new woodland path to the Wampanaog Homesite. This workshop discusses how native plantings can be used in residential settings to evoke the mood of natural landscapes and to benefit the larger environment. The program concludes with light refreshments and an opportunity to specifically discuss participants’ own landscapes with and emphasis on how to enhance landscapes with native plantings. "Strictly Sondheim: A Musical Retrospective"

The Pilgrim Festival Chorus (PFC) has announced their second annual summer season concert. The event will be held at Plymouth South High School,

Plymouth, and features soloists, duets, quartets and ensembles.The production will feature a variety of numbers, all composed by the famed Stephen Sondheim, multi-Tony Award winning composer of such Broadway hits as Company, A Little Night Music, Follies, Into The Woods and Sweeney Todd (recently made into a film starring Johnny Depp). Vocalists from teenagers to senior citizens will be performing. Tickets are $12.00 in advance (Cyndy 781-447-4865), or $15.00 at the door, and include entertainment, dessert and refreshments. Proceeds from ticket sales will raise funds to assist production of the 2008-2009 PFC regular season events. 11th Annual Patuxet Strawberry Thanksgiving

Plimoth Plantation’s Wampanoag Indigenous Program (WIP) hosts the 11th Annual Patuxet Strawberry Thanksgiving at the Wampanoag Homesite. Native people celebrate many thanksgivings throughout the year to show appreciation to the Earth and the Creator. Strawberries are the first fruit of the new growing season, and were honored in the 17th century with ceremony, singing, dancing, feasting and games. Visitors will witness WIP staff, as well as many Native community members, as they reenact this daylong celebration of thanks with 17th century football games, mishoon (canoe) races, feasting and Eastern social songs and dances.

Summer Solstice Lawn Party on the Harbor celebrating the Hull Lifesaving Museum's 30th Anniversary

A joyful celebration of the museum’s accomplishments, the Summer Solstice will be a true fête champêtre, with lawn games on the green, sumptuous seasonal cuisine, and jazz and island rhythms by Calypso Hurricane. Festivities will flow from the elegance of the Courthouse Atrium to the gracious expanse of Harbor Park, all with spectacular views of the Boston Waterfront and Harbor, central to the museum’s mission of preserving our maritime heritage. Tickets are $100 per person. The evening benefits the Hull Lifesaving Museum programs, including exhibits and preservation at the historic Point Allerton US Lifesaving Station, Home Waters rowing and experiential education, and the Maritime Apprentice Program for adjudicated youth. Guests traveling from the South Shore may choose the added pleasure of arriving by sea. A Harbor Express ferry will depart Pemberton Pier at 6:15 conveying guests directly to the Courthouse Pier, adjacent to Harbor Park, at the John Joseph Moakley Courthouse in Boston. The return trip ferry will depart the Courthouse for Pemberton Pier at 10:45. Ferry tickets are $20 roundtrip.

Japanese Tea Ceremony

Tea Ceremony Presentations are held in the tea hut situated in a Japanese garden on the museum grounds. The Art Complex Tea Hut, Shofuan,"Wind in The Pines Hut" was designed by Kojiro Tomita's long time friend Gofu Sano and built in Kyoto Japan in 1969. It was reassembled here in 1975 and dedicated to the Tomitas at an inaugural tea ceremony. Shofuan is a traditional san jo daime (3and 3/4 size) hut - Japanese huts are described by the number of mats they accommodate. There are two single fusuma (sliding doors), connecting the tea room with the mizuya (kitchen area), where all the preparations are made for the tea meal (kaiseki) and the tea ceremony.
