Bitmapped Characters: Ceramic Tiles by Megumi Naitoh
Technology & Craft come togeter in this series. Naitoh downloads images from her computer and separates the colors to make a silk screen that is glazed into clay. The piece is then fired, cut into tiles and mounted onto plexi to create unique portraits that reveal tiny details about the subject, the artist and the viewer.

Plimoth Plantation's Wampanoag Indigenous Program (WIP) hosts the 10th Annual
Patuxet Strawberry Thanksgiving at the Wampanoag Homesite. Native people celebrate
thanksgivings throughout the year to show appreciation to the Earth and the
Creator. Strawberries are the first fruit of the new growing season, and were honored in
the 17th century with ceremony, singing, dancing, feasting and games. Visitors will
participate with WIP staff, as well as many Native community members, as they reenact
this daylong celebration of thanks with 17th century football games, mishoon (canoe)
races, feasting and Eastern social songs and dances.

Rescheduled Woodcarving Demonstrations and Presentation of New Wooden Bear
Due to inclement weather on Bear Awareness Day last month, the donation of a new wooden bear to the zoo by artist Ross MacVicar has been rescheduled to this Sunday, June 24th. Be one of the first to see the new carving, and watch the artist create beautiful art out of ordinary stumps of wood! Completed carvings will be available for purchase, with a portion of the proceeds being donated to the zoo.
Mr. MacVicar will begin weather-permitting wood carving demonstrations at 10:30 AM, and will present the new wooden bear at 1:00 PM rain or shine.

Thomas Hill: Drawing on Muybridge through November 4, 2007
brings a gallery of animals and birds in the midst of movement and flight to the Museum. Using wire to evoke form and movement, Hill draws from the sequential photography work of Eadweard Muybridge.
