29th Annual Snow Row
1pm
Hull Lifesaving Museum's signature-rowing race, The Snow Row covers a 3 3/4 mile triangular course starting off the beach at Windmill Point, continuing around Sheep Island, past the Peddocks Island day marker, and back to shore. Huge crowds gather on the beach beside the museum’s Windmill Point Boathouse to share in the wild, LeMans-style start, unpredictable weather, and one-of-a-kind gathering of gorgeous boats and athletes. A Harbor Express high speed ferry will follow the race course, affording spectators an even closer view of the event. It is also a rare opportunity to see, up close, rowers of all ages and interests and their stunning array of wooden pulling boats on the beach and in action -- peapods, dories, wherries, whitehalls, ocean shells, kayaks, pilot gigs, captain’s gigs, and Irish currachs. The Hull Lifesaving Museum, a mile from the boathouse will be open throughout the day with free admission. For more information please contact:

Book Signing-Edward Lodi
12-2pm
Edward Lodi will be lurking about the Tihonet Village Market, threatening to sign copies of his newly released mystery novel, Marmalade and Murder. Lodi will be easily recognizable: he’s the suspicious-looking fellow with a grizzled beard and willl be brandishing a pen and disguised as an aging and cantankerous bog worker. Lodi grew up in Wareham, attended school there, and worked on the cranberry bogs for many years. He has written nearly twenty books. Many of them, such as Murder on the Bogs, Cranberry Gothic, and last year’s Moonlight Harvest, feature bogs as atmospheric settings for strange deeds, murder most foul, and other criminous activities. Marmalade and Murder is about the mysterious death of a cranberry grower and the misguided--and highly dangerous--attempt by a pair of amateur detectives to solve the crime. The action, which takes place in Wareham and surrounding towns, makes use of legends and landmarks that will be familiar to many local readers.
