Audition Process
The audition process begins with CD submissions sent in by musicians (individuals or groups) in all categories. Submissions, a minimum of one song or a maximum of three, should be no longer than five minutes. Excerpts are accepted. All will be judged by a select group of advisors with musical backgrounds and will include local and regional area music teachers and professors as well as notable musicians from the South Shore and Boston area. Those who are admitted into the competition will be notified with dates for the semi final competition.
Semi-final Competitions
The semi final competition will take place at the Cultural Arts Center (Temple) on Court Street. Its main service hall will provide a beautiful setting with good acoustics for the audition process. These semi-final auditions will be open to the public for the price of admission.
Final Competitions
Final competitions will take place at the Radisson Hotel Ballroom and Memorial Hall. The Radisson Ballroom will provide an elegant and intimate setting for the classical and jazz portions of the competition and Memorial Hall’s newly renovated space will provide the perfect setting for big band, followed by the final competition for the popular category.
