Fan-folded Book Making Workshop with Artist Judith Campbell

This February, the Library is exhibiting Judith Campbell's unique Fine Art books. Judith makes these books both with and without words. “The books that you make without words are the books that invite you to find the words for the story that you would like to tell," says Campbell. The workshop is for adults and children ages 10 or older. Children 12 and under must come with an adult. Learn the techniques and let your imagination run wild as you create two handmade fan-fold books. All supplies are provided. Participants will have lots of things to take home.

Legendary jazz saxophonist, flutist and composer Greg Abate tours the globe 225 days a year as an international jazz recording artist. His 2004 recording “Evolution”, just one of his 18 albums, was nominated for Grammy awards in four categories. Greg has dazzled audiences around the world for nearly 50 years through his energetic performances. The Berklee College of Music graduate - who was also lead alto for the Ray Charles Orchestra - has built his career as one of the few remaining post-hard bop soloists. We’re excited to have Greg back to the Spire stage!

Celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Gurnet Light with history buff Wally Hempel, of Project Gurnet and Bug Light, as he explains the back story of this important landmark. Wally is a renowned story teller and will share accounts of the lighthouse being fired upon by British ships, and how it was once under the watchful eye of the first female lighthouse keeper.
Through the efforts of a dedicated group of volunteers this crucial aid to navigation continues to guide mariners into Plymouth, Kingston and Duxbury Bays. Part of our Free WaterWatch Lecture Series.

I just love the way he plays.”
