Catch that holiday glow with the purest of magical ingredients: holiday music!  Our pops weekend inspires joy with plenty of merriment and your favorite seasonal classics sung by gifted soprano, Kristen Watson, and The Plymouth Community Intermediate School 6th Grade Chorus.  Don’t miss fun favorites such as Mele Kalikimaka (The Hawaiian Christmas Song), I’ll Be Home for Christmas, and Believe from the holiday film The Polar Express, plus the annual March of the Toys parade with Santa leading our way!

The Phil performs music from How the Grinch Stole Christmas and Waltz of the Flowers from Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker.  They also channel the spirit of the Jamaican Bobsled Team from the 1988 Winter Olympics with Caribbean Sleigh Ride, a wild musical romp featuring island-flavored snippets of Jingle Bells and other holiday songs.  The orchestra also performs A Christmas Scherzo, a high-energy compilation of holiday music direct from the proprietary Boston Pops music library and made available to other orchestras for the very first time this year.

“We initiated our annual indoor holiday parade, March of the Toys, during my second season as conductor of this wonderful orchestra,” says Karidoyanes. “This year marks the 25th annual toy march, our charity toy drive by kids, for kids.  It has become such an important hallmark of our Holiday Pops, extending our reach into the community in a meaningful way.” As in previous seasons of Holiday Pops concerts, children are invited to bring an unwrapped toy to contribute.  Collected toys will be distributed to deserving families by the Children's Holiday Fund, sponsored by the Old Colony Memorial and administered by the Plymouth Area Coalition.
