lecture series: Finding Your Ancestors

Mayflower Society House
4 Winslow Street
Plymouth , MA

Thursday, August 15, 2019 - 6:30pm

Mayflower descendants are proud of their lineage to the Pilgrims, but they are out to prove that all journeys and ethnicities traveled by anyone’s ancestors are equally compelling. The Mayflower Society’s 2019 Genealogy Lecture Series Finding Your Ancestors, spearheaded by member Lisa Pennington, will examine fascinating stories involving the research of non-Mayflower ethnicities and will teach budding genealogists how to begin researching their ancestors.

August 15 - Wampanoag Ancestry and Heritage – Linda Coombs
"While genealogy is used by most tribal groups today, most Native people still hold on to and follow traditional means of tracing family lineages.  The presentation will center on what these means are and how they function in both traditional society and in today's world."

All lectures are free and open to the public and are held at 6:30 p.m. at the Mayflower Society House, located at 4 Winslow Street in Plymouth, MA followed by a reception. All are welcome to attend, but seating is limited due to space, so reservations are encouraged.
