Do you dread the coming of winter each year? Shorter days, storms, icy sidewalks and driveways, shivering cold, and cabin fever from endless days of boredom. This presentation will provide an alternate view of winter as a season when outdoor activities can be enjoyed by dressing properly. Techniques for staying warm along with clothing and foot gear examples will be on display.

Search the secretive domain of one of nature’s most skilled nocturnal hunters with the hope of observing these stealthy creatures. Test your auditory skills by listening for their distinct calls, some of which can be heard from a mile away. We will bundle up and pile into the van to take advantage of the most up-to-date scouting reports. Dress in layers for the colder temperatures.

Solos will be sung by featured local vocalists. PFC Co-Artistic Director Elizabeth Chapman Reilly and church music director accompanies the Sing on the church’s 1887 S. S. Hamill pipe organ, along with guest instrumentalists.

Winter Solstice Hayride

Bundle up in your favorite warm layers and join us in celebration of the Winter Solstice. Bring your own box dinner and we will supply hot cocoa, dessert, hay bale seating around the campfire, stories of animals transitioning into winter, and a solstice hayride guided by lanterns. We plan to ride out to Fox Hill and spend some quiet time looking at the winter stars.
