With more than 300 growers farming over 13,000 acres of bogs, cranberries are the number one food crop in Massachusetts. The Cape Cod Cranberry Growers’ Association (CCCGA) is proud to be able to offer your group an opportunity to tour a cranberry farm in historic Massachusetts. Our team of growers have chosen to open their farms to you and are committed to sharing their knowledge, passion, and commitment to the industry.
Private Tours are available year-round to any group consisting of fifteen or more individuals, with advanced scheduling. Public Tours are also offered during the harvest season for individuals or groups of less than fifteen, visit for dates and registration information.
Most private tours will originate at the A.D. Makepeace Company in Wareham (the world's largest cranberry grower).  For those that do, before or after a bog tour, groups can visit Makepeace Farms for cranberry-themed gifts, delicious sandwiches and salads, treats from their bakery, gourmet foods and cooking tools, specialty teas and coffees, and cookbooks.
What to expect on a private group tour:
Upon arrival, your group will be greeted and engaged in discussion with Industry Representatives who will give you an overview of the day’s activities. In most cases, if traveling by bus or coach, a staff member will board your bus and share general information while traveling to the bog area. Typically, each tour stops at one to three locations for guests to step out and get an up-close look at the bog area. Very little walking is typically required.
Each season brings its own special sites around the bog. During the harvest season, every effort will be made to show examples of wet harvesting operations.
Your guide will discuss the yearly cycle of cranberry growing, the methods of harvesting, and give you some insight on being a cranberry farmer. There will be plenty of time for questions and discussions throughout the tour.
A typical tour lasts approximately one hour and a half. This does not include time for shopping, lunch, or other activities that may be offered at some farms. Tours may be customized to meet your time requirements. Each guest will be given a small cranberry goodie bag after the tour.
