The Town of Plymouth seeks to notify residents, visitors and businesses of the temporary implementation of one-way traffic through Plymouth’s downtown area, beginning on Friday, June 26, 2020.
This temporary change in traffic flow is a result of the Town’s collaborative efforts with the Plymouth Recovery Task Force to assist local businesses with economic recovery through the provision of expanded outdoor service areas on the Town’s sidewalks.
Until further notice, Court Street and Main Street (Route 3A) will be open to southbound traffic, only, between Chilton Street and Leyden Street. Northbound traffic along the Route 3A downtown corridor will be diverted through Water Street.
The Town’s Department of Public Works (“DPW”) will place two sets of jersey barriers approximately 28-feet apart along Court and Main Streets, between Chilton Street and Leyden Street, to create a pedestrian corridor on the east side. Existing parking spaces on the western side of Court and Main Streets will remain available and enforced, as marked.
Side streets off Court Street and Main Street between Chilton Street and Leyden Street will remain accessible via the allowed southbound traffic.
Barring inclement weather and unforeseen circumstances, the work required to deploy barriers, install signage, and update surface markings will begin on Wednesday, June 24, 2020, and continue through Friday, June 26, 2020.
The DPW has deployed message boards to alert motorists of this forthcoming change. The public is advised to plan for traffic delays related to the temporary change of traffic flow through the downtown / Route 3A traffic corridor.
The Town appreciates the community’s patience during these efforts to support downtown businesses. General questions about this traffic plan may be directed to the Town’s Department of Public Works at (508) 830-4162, extension 12101, during normal business hours, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
