Founded in 1824, The Plymouth Cordage Company was once the largest manufacturer of rope and twine in the world. It was also the Town of Plymouth's largest employer for more than 100 years. Their large factory, located on the Plymouth waterfront, specialized in ship rigging and was chosen among their competitors in the early 1900s to manufacture the rope used on the USS Constitution.
